Happy Love Day!

It is a mystery why we fall in love. It is a mystery how it happens. It is a mystery when it comes. It is a mystery why some loves grow, and it is a mystery why some loves fail. You can analyze this mystery and look for reasons and causes, but you will never do any more than take the life out of the experience.

Love is more than the sum of the interests and attractions and commonalities that two people share. And just as life itself is a gift that comes and goes in its time, the coming of love must be taken as an unfathomable gift that cannot be questioned in its ways.

You need to treat what love brings you with kindness. If you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. There is nothing wrong with you. Love just didn’t choose to rest in the other person’s heart.

If you find someone else in love with you toward whom you feel no love, feel honored that love came and called at your door, but gently refuse the gift you cannot return. Do not take advantage; do not cause pain. How you deal with love is how love will deal with you, and all our hearts feel the same pains and joys, even if our lives and ways are very different.

If you fall in love with another who falls in love with you, and then love chooses to leave, do not try to reclaim it or to assess blame. Let it go. There is a reason and there is a meaning. You will know it in time, but time itself will choose the moment.

Remember this and keep it in your heart. You don’t choose love. Love chooses you. All you can really do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes into your life. Feel the way it fills you to overflowing, then reach out and give it away. Give it back to the person who brought it to you. Give it to others who seem poor in spirit. Give it to the world around you in any way you can.

Love has its own time, its own season, and its own reasons for coming and going. You cannot bribe it or coerce it or reason it into staying. If it chooses to leave your heart or the heart of your lover, there is nothing you can do and nothing you should do. Be glad that it came to live for a moment in your life. If you keep your heart open, it will surely come again.

Music Is Kind Of Everything

I can't imagine a life without music. Can you? It's been the backdrop of our lives. For each decade, we have a soundtrack that goes with it. It's gives us inspiration, heals our broken hearts, gets us on our feet or spoons us when we need it. Music celebrates life with us, gives us hope, helps us rage against the machine if we're pissed off, or holds our hands when we're beyond sad. Sometimes, it speaks to us when sung in another language we don't even understand, but we can feel it. Music is freaking magic!

These are some songs from my soundtrack.

The New Year is a perfect time to leave behind that which no longer serves you. In doing so, it allows you to make room for growth and new positive experiences in your life.

A great New Years tradition is to write all of the things you want to let go of, on paper. Whether it's bad habits, negative thoughts, destructive emotions, or unhealthy relationships, etc... write it all down on paper. After you've done this, burn the paper somewhere safe, like a fire proof bowl or a fire pit. Burning the paper turns your intentions/prayers into smoke and sends them to the Creator. The purpose is to release old patterns, beliefs, emotions or experiences, or anything that impedes you from realizing your true self. By releasing the old unwanted conditions, you clear the way for beginnings.

Then focus on what you DO want to create. Write those things on paper too. Now, burn this paper, sending your intentions to the Creator.

Keep your focus throughout the year on all of the things you want to create in your life. It may help to make a Vision Board. Do whatever it takes to keep your focus.You can and will have everything that you desire, if you keep your focus on your intentions. Remember, your life is what you create. Dream big! You deserve it!

Do not wait one more minute. Every minute you waste, is a minute lost. This is the moment to work towards getting what you want in life. You may not think that you have the time or the resources right now to achieve what you want, but YOU DO. The first thing that you can and must do, is to decide exactly what it is that you want. It doesn't matter what it is. Whether it's a dream home, a job, a new career, traveling, finding the love of your life, getting out of a toxic relationship, having more money, it doesn't matter. All that matters is that you are clear about what you want. Clear enough so that you can picture it.

The next step that you need to take is to write it down. Put what you want on paper. Don't type it into your computer. When you take the time to sit with a pen in your hand, it will make you feel more connected to your dreams. Just a bit of advice here, don't be afraid to dream big! This is it, kids! Do not settle for anything, other than what you want. Be brave! Yes, BRAVE. Believe it or not, going after what you want takes courage. Everyone who ever went after what they wanted had courage. This doesn't mean stepping on people along the way to get what you want. Do everything with honor.

Now that you've got you're vision of what you want, start manifesting. By manifesting, I mean FOCUS. Think it, dream it, eat it, breathe it, live it. We attract to ourselves what we focus on. Make sure your thoughts are positive. Concentrate on what you're going to have, not what you don't have now. Take steps towards making your dreams come true. Even if they are small steps or seem silly, take the steps. They all count. Don't stop thinking about it. The more you think about it, the more real it will become to you. Talk about it. Pick people you trust and share your dreams with them. You never know, you may be talking to someone who could help you along the way. Anything is possible. Go for it!

What are you thinking about?

I believe that the voice in our heads can be our own worst enemy. The way we talk to ourselves can be so brutal and negative that we don't even need anyone else to tell us what a big loser we are, because we've done a fine job of telling ourselves that. This is called negative chatter. Stop the negative chatter!

Have you ever replayed the mental video of an argument or moment of hurt so many times that you know everything that happened by heart? Or maybe it’s a moment of embarrassment or failure? Or maybe nothing happened at all and your imagination created a negative make-believe situation? Over and over the images roll past your mind’s eye, reminding you to stay in a dark place. And you ask yourself why you are so stupid, so vulnerable, so naive? We’ve all been there. But it’s not a healthy place to dwell.

Asking questions of ourselves can be one of the greatest skills we acquire. But they have to be the right questions that lead us away from the dreaded mental rewinds. The questions have to lead us toward healing, solutions, and emotional growth. When we’re focused on becoming more positive, asking ourselves thought provoking questions can lead to a shift in our attitude toward good energy. It can also turn our self-talk from an enemy to a friend. And who couldn’t use some extra good vibes or a great new friend? When the urge to mentally review the event in question hits - ask yourself, will it make me feel better to go over this yet again? I promise, the answer will be no.

What questions are you asking yourself daily? And what are you doing with the answers? Here are a few question suggestions:

1. Did I lead by example today? Did I treat others the way I would like to be treated at my job, in my home, on the run, on the Internet? If I have children, what did they learn from my actions today?

2. Did I communicate love to my family and friends today? How?

3. What did I come across today that I need to spend more time thinking about? Was there anything I could have done better? Are there lessons to be learned?

4. What have I learned today that will help me grow? How can I apply it to my life?

5. Did I add value to anyone today? Is there something more I can do to compound the positive benefit he or she received?

6. Did I spend any time with positive people today? Did I cultivate my attitude and outlook on life?

7. What hurt or un-forgiveness am I carrying with me? Is it time to keep the lesson and unburden myself from the experience?

8. Did I beat myself up today or did I remind myself of my good qualities and cultivate them? What we spend time focusing on grows. Focus on that which you hope to expand.

9. Last but not least, what were your intentions? It makes it hard to beat yourself up if you know that you are coming from a place of good intentions. Not just for you, but for everyone.

Where Do Broken Hearts Go?

Let's talk broken hearts. We've all had one - some of us more than a few times. So how do you stay positive, or move toward positive, when the weight on your chest and the pain in your heart makes you wish you could stay in bed and block out the light? The hard part about a broken heart is the time it takes to heal. Depending on what or who smashed into it - because not all broken hearts are caused by romance - the pain could last anywhere from a moment to a millenium. Now that may not sound uplifting or hopeful, but it is. There are things in life that are going to suck. That's the bad news and there's no other way to say it! But there are ways to survive and come out better on the other side of the hurt.

Regardless of how devastating the injury, eventually you will feel whole again. That's the good news. If you can begin to focus on that fact, the idea that this too shall pass, you will begin the healing process. Abraham Lincoln used to say he could do anything for twelve hours. Some days you have to string twelve-minute "I can do this" moments together. But the twelve minutes will turn into two hours, then two days, then two months, then one day you'll forget to wake up sad.

Being Positive or focusing on attracting Positive Energy doesn't mean you've lived a charmed life or that blue birds greet you each morning. Just as many pitfalls, heart-breaks, and struggles are faced by those who choose positive as by those who don't. The difference is by attracting hope and the belief that all things work together for good...eventually...it makes the dark days a little brighter and easier to survive.

Let's practice bringing more Positive Energy into our lives!

1. Accept that this hurts. Acknowledge the pain, and the utter unfairness! Now decide not to let this beat you.

2. Don't expect to feel totally happy or positive every moment. Feeling positive is a choice. You have to force yourself to focus on something that will bring you a sensation of joy or at the very least contentment. The more you do, the more positive energy that will be attracted to you and, the better things will become.

3. Stand up tall, sit up straight, and pull your shoulders up and back. The physiology of your body actually effects your emotions. Force a smile. Force yourself to lift yourself up physically and it will lift you emotionally.

4. Do something nice for someone else - it will help you remember that we all have struggles and that by sticking together, we can survive anything.

If you’re a positive thinker you already believe in the power of Possibility Thinking. But if your natural inclination is negativity or cynicism, I want to ask you to consider how many highly effective or influential people you know who focus on what can’t be done? Regardless of your situation in life, allowing the benefits of Possibility Thinking to permeate your thoughts will bring amazing benefits. It will open up more possibilities and outcomes in situations, it will keep you motivated and positive, it will help you achieve more, and it will give you energy.

Possibility Thinking goes beyond refusing to allow negative thoughts. Possibility Thinking requires believing in solutions and finding ways to make them happen. If you believe there is no way to make something better, no way to be successful, how much energy, time, or commitment will you invest? But if you embrace a possibility, pour belief into what you are doing, your energy will soar and you will meet with unimagined success in unexpected hours!

By shifting your thoughts toward what can be done, you will start to attract other like-minded people to you. Big-thinkers tend to gravitate toward one-another. And all big-thinkers believe in the unlimited power of possibilities.

Let’s practice bringing more positive energy into our lives!

1. Stop dwelling on anything that is wrong in a situation. Ask someone you trust to let you know when you talk about the problem instead of the possible solution.

2. Push yourself to dream bigger. Allow yourself to set a goal, and then push it one step further. Goal setting is as important in the boardroom as in the home.

3. Find people who inspire you! Read about those who have gone beyond the status quo. Learn from them the lesson of never, never, never giving up.

Be Positive +

"The most expensive piece of real estate is the six inches between your right and left ear. It’s what you create in that area that determines your life. We are only really limited by our own thoughts."

No matter where you go, who you talk to, or where you look - negativity is always lurking; always just a word or thought away. Forget about all the outside influences for a moment, the average person has 7500 negative thoughts a day in their own self-talk! 7500! That means we suffer 5 negative thoughts a minute! So how are we supposed to stay positive when our own inner self is working against us? The answer is simpler than it would seem, but it does require a good deal of effort. We have to train ourselves to seek out positivity. To turn our personal energy into a light-attracting source rather than a dark-room where negatives are developed. We must train ourselves to cancel negative thoughts as they are happening.

Again, there's a lot of talk about positivity - what does it really mean? HOW do you train yourself? Well, if you've ever tried to learn a sport, or play an instrument, you know it takes a lot of practice to get things right. It took me the better part of two months to learn Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star on the violin only to have my family beg me to take up the piano. The same law applies to learning the art of Positive Seeking. It's an overused phrase we don't pay much attention to - but practice really does make perfect. Practice seeking the positive in every situation that comes up. You're stuck in traffic and late for a meeting - I know you want to throw your coffee at the car in front of you - but instead, take a deep breath and make yourself think of something positive to do with this time. Make a call you've been putting off, say some prayers for people you've been meaning to pray for, tell yourself that maybe you're being delayed to protect you from something worse happening. Actively seek to turn the bad that's bumming your mood to something a little more easy on the soul. It won't work perfectly the first time - but keep shifting your focus from annoyance t0 productivity and before long you'll be making the shift without having to force yourself.

Another practice that always helps is having a mantra or positive affirmation. Now don't skip ahead or stop reading, thinking to yourself "I know all about those." Sure you do - we all do - but how often are we actually using them? When was the last time you said your affirmation? I have a friend who chooses a verse from scripture each week. You may want to pick a quote or a famous saying. Or maybe something as simple as saying Peace & Love over and over again. Whatever works for you - find your calming words. Words that inspire you, encourage you, and lift you. When you find yourself thinking how bloated and chubby you feel today, how annoying your boss can be, how much you wish the kids were done with their homework...repeat your phrase to yourself. Think it five, six, ten times. However many it takes to restore your sense of calm and composure. However many times it takes to shift your thoughts from harmful emotions to helpful ones. I wear a bracelet that is a constant reminder, and very often all it takes is a glance at my wrist to snap me into remembering what emotions I choose to make important in my day.

If all of that seems too complicated, then just think 'pineapple' over and over again. Yes, I said 'pineapple'. Another friend, one of my favorite friends, recently shared with me that that's her word of choice. Pineapple. Who knew? She dared me to cancel out a fearful or negative thought by saying pineapple over and over again and picture anything BUT a pineapple. I tried...and sure enough the only bad thing that came to my mind was the desire for a pina colada. She told me she has even tried to picture the fearful thing peeking out from behind the pineapple, but the only thing she ends up seeing in her mind's eye is a big, juicy, harmless piece of fruit. So pick yourself a fruit you love - maybe you're more of an apple or a grapefruit - and cancel, cancel, cancel any thoughts that don't make you smile. Personally, I'm sticking with the pineapple image. After all, it is said to be the symbol of welcome and that's exactly what we're trying to do - welcome positive energy into our lives.

So first things first! Let's practice bringing more positive thoughts into our own minds.
1. Be aware of your focus - are you allowing negative self-talk to lead your mood? Take charge, seek the positive. Don't empower doubt, fear, anger, anxiety with your words. Instead empower peace, love, harmony, and joy.
2. Actually USE a mantra or affirmation to remind yourself what you choose to focus on. When a bad thought comes - use your uplifting words to cancel out the negative.
3. Picture a Pineapple and repeat the word again and again until the only thing you see is a symbol of welcome.

My dad has always had a rough life: from working at such an early age (5 years old) not being able to finish school, living in a very poor household, and the hardest loosing the love of his life and raising 4 kids alone. And even though he's been through all that he is one of the strongest, caring, forgetful and big hearted person I know. Loosing my mom wasn't easy for him especially after being attacked by her family and calling her a killer when my mom died of childbirth, he's been ridicule by them, spit on, hit, having the gravestone we put on her grave removed and flowers burned, yet he never has hold a grudge against them and has thought me how to be able forgive. He has me how anything is possible with God on your side & has made me the person I am today, I don't know where I would be without him. I am so grateful to be able to call him my dad because he has raised us to be the best we can, he has given us everything we ever needed, he has been my rock when I'm breaking down, he's been there through the good and the bad with me,I'm thankful for that and I wanna show my gratitude because honestly it would of been much easier for him to leave us at grandmas and live his life but no, he decided to raise us and that meant balancing work and housework, taking care of us when we were sick, driving us to school and always being by our side. Dad I want you to know how proud I am from where you came and to where you are now, from having nothing to owing a house, cars, your business, writing books but most importantly to being the dad you never had, someone who understands you, is there for you and shows you how much he cares and I love you for being the best dad/man anyone could ask for, in my eyes you are the greatest hero there is.

To all of the dads out there who told their kids wildly fantastic stories before putting them to bed, who was always there to hold their kids and make them feel safe, who put together every miserably impossible race track or Barbie "Dream House", who dragged both their girls or boys out of bed at 4am to go fishing, who had patience enough to teach them how to swim and how to throw a ball properly, who taught their kids about the birds and the bees while trying to make dinner, who wouldn't miss a dance recital, baseball game, or school play for the world, and who taught their kids that there are no limits, because anything is possible in life, Happy Fathers Day! You did good!!!

Remembrance & Gratitude

A few days ago, I was standing at Ground Zero. I had never seen it with my own eyes before. The last time I had stood in that spot, the towers were still there. Even after 10 years, Ground Zero still feels like a very sacred place.

As I walked from Ground Zero to Battery Park, my heart was heavy while thinking about all of the people who had lost their lives on that day. They were soldiers in a war and didn't even know it. I consider every one of them to be American hero's, who died with grace.

So, while we're remembering and giving gratitude to all of our brave military members who have lost their lives in battle this Memorial Day, let's also remember those who perished on 9/11. God bless them all!

Who's Your Mama?

We had a little anonymous miracle in our beach town here in Encinitas, a couple of weeks ago. Some men dressed in work clothes that made them appear to be city workers, put this stained glass piece of art up on city property. No one knows who those men are or who the artist of this gorgeous creation is. They still haven't come forward. So here we have the Holy Mother or Our Lady of Guadalupe, catching a wave on her rad board, booties and all. The city is undecided as to whether or not they will "allow" this free work of art to remain or not because "No one got permission for this" and "It may cause safety issues" and blah blah blah. Politics shmolitics. For now, we will enjoy our Mother while we can. After all, she's watching out for all of us at the beach, dude!

Speaking of mothers, they come in all shapes and sizes. You don't have to give birth to a baby or officially adopt a child to be a mother. Some of us have been mothering our whole lives. Even as children, we were looking after younger children or babies, not always because we had to, but because we wanted to. It's just one of those unexplainable natural phenomenons from the universe, to have mothering instincts and to love children unconditionally, even if the children you love aren't yours.

I believe that throughout our life, most of us have many mothers. Great women who come and go throughout our lifetime, that leave a permanent mark of wisdom and love on us. These "mothers" don't even have to be in your life for an extended period of time, as in years. When you're a kid, these "mothers" could come in the form of an aunt, a camp counselor or a lady in the neighborhood. As an adult, maybe in the form of a boss, a landlord, a nurse, or your friends mom. These "mothers" are everywhere and I thank God for the phenomenal "mothers" who have crossed my path. I hope we all are able to recognize these women and honor them.

On this Mothers Day, along with celebrating our own beautiful moms, let's celebrate all of our "mothers," past and present. These women loved and cared for us, even though they didn't have to. Now THAT'S something pretty special!

The story on Yahoo's homepage today was titled, "Who's most likely to struggle in 2011." That is a terrible headline! The year hasn't even begun yet and negativity is being thrown our way and sending some people into a panic. Do NOT buy into that negativity and do NOT read stuff like that!

We have a better headline for you...WHO'S MOST LIKELY TO BE BLESSED IN 2011? The answer is simple. Anyone who believes that they are blessed will be blessed. If you need help with this concept, we're here to help you. Our goal isn't to just help you have a blessed year though. Our goal is to help you have MANY blessed years to come.

In order to do this you've got to have a vision for your life. If you have a family, it's important to have a vision for your family as well. If you ask around, most people don't have a real vision for themselves or their families. But if you don't make one, the world has a way of making one for you. Sort of like flying by the seat of your pants and feeling lost.

To make a life vision, start by taking inventory. Make a Gratitude list which is a list of what and whom your grateful for right now. Then make a list of what you want in your future. We'll call this the POSITIVE list. Make this be very specific because you will need it for the next step which is going to be your Vision Board. The Vision Board can be a cork board but we prefer those large poster boards that you can get at any arts & crafts store and sometimes even at the drugstore. They cost about a dollar. Once you've got your board, pick out photos that express your visions. If you want a certain kind of house, find a photo that looks like it. If you want joy in your life, find a photo that expresses joy. If you want good health, find photos that show things that achieve good health. If you want to go to Tahiti, find some gorgeous photos of Tahiti. If you want more money, you're not going to get it by focusing all of your attention on bills and debt. Get the idea? Be very specific in what you want! Then glue all of the photos on to your Vision Board and place the board where you can look at it every day. This way, it will help you to stay focused on your vision. We attract the things that we focus on!

Now it's time to clean house! Here comes the last list that you will need to make. This ones called the NEGATIVE list. This list also needs to be very specific. On here you will write down everything that blocks you from getting the things you want. If you're lazy about reaching goals, put laziness on there. If you have negative thoughts all of the time, put negative thinking on there. If you share your time, space or life with negative people or people who don't wish what it best for you, put them on the list. It is time to let go of unhealthy relationships. It is time to let go of everything that does not add to your life. This is going to be very hard for most people to do just for the sole reason that we are creatures of habit. But if you truly want to see significant change in your life, you have to be willing to let go of bad habits. No way around it.

Last but not least, stop filling yourself up with negativity. It is everywhere. Don't watch the news reports that love to talk non-stop about the recession, job loss, foreclosures, etc... Don't read about it in the papers or online. Ask yourself how it makes you feel after you fill up on those negative stories. The answer is probably not very good and pretty hopeless, right?

Stay focused on the POSITIVE. Watch things and read about things that fill you up with good energy. Share your time, space and life with people who make you want to be a better person. When you feel yourself starting to have a pity party or you're having a "WHY ME" moment, go and do something nice for someone. Then take out your GRATITUDE list and remember all that you have right now to be grateful for. Fill your SOUL every single day with light. Your soul needs tending to just as a garden does. Water it and feed it! Be of service when needed and do it with a smile. Share your LOVE with people and with yourSELF!

If you can live your life with VISION, GRATITUDE, LOVE and SERVICE, you will get everything you want and more importantly, need. And this my friend, is what is known as a BLESSED life.

The winner of the Gratitude Giveaway is Francesca Scopelliti! We didn't pick Francesca for our usual reason which is a person who gives more than they take. We chose Francesca because despite the fact that she had disabilities that she needed to overcome growing up, she had to do so while facing bullies who simply bullied her for reasons that were beyond her control. That's enough to make anyone want to give up on life, but she didn't. Francesca persevered with grace. We think that Francesca is the type of person who we could all learn from. Congratulations, Francesca! We're grateful for learning about you!

Here's the letter that her sister, Antonia wrote to us:

I want to nominate my little sister for the gratitude giveaway. Her name is Francesca and she isn’t so little anymore but being 10 years older than her will always make her little. My little sister is 20 years old and has been through so much adversity in her life. I often wonder if I could have handled half the things she has been through.

She was born in November of 1990, 2 and a half months premature. She weighed 2 pounds and 1 ounce. She was tiny and it was sad to watch her be fed through a tube in her nose and then watch them shave her head and see all the wires on her. I honestly thought if she could make it through the first couple of months, she’d be fine. My older sister was also born premature and she turned out just fine so I didn’t really worry that much. She stayed in the hospital until the week before christmas. A few days before she came home, the doctor told my parents that she had suffered a brain haemorrhage shortly after her birth. They weren’t aware yet of how much damage had been done and as she grew they would monitor everything. The haemorrhage had cause cerebral palsy; a mild form that affected the right side of her body. It took her longer than most children to learn how to walk and the right side of her body was very weak. She needed to sleep with a machine attached to her leg and arm so that they would help strengthen her.

When she entered school, we realized she wasn't learning as fast as the other children. She was diagnosed with a learning disability and everything became much harder. It took her double the time to learn things that her peers were learning. She had friends but was bullied because ignorant children didn't seem to understand that not everyone is the same. Through it all, she persevered. In high school, she faced similar challenges but managed to work through them.

In 2005, she was walking home from school and hit by a car. She had to be home schooled for much of 10^th grade and this caused her to go into a depression. There were moments when I found myself crying constantly because I couldn't imagine everything she had been through her whole life. This poor child had faced the unimaginable at such a young age.

She began university in 2008, obviously, it was difficult at first because she realized she had to push much harder than the other students. She spent many nights crying herself to sleep and wanted to quit so many times. She never gave up though. She has been this way from the day she was born.

Today, she is in her 3^rd year of university. She has plans to attend law school once she graduates. We are all so proud of her and all her efforts. I am thankful to have her in my life and to remind me every day that if you want something bad enough, it is attainable. J

Attached is a picture of her and I and our older sister (Francesca is in the middle and I am on the left). She is a true survivor and will always be the most important person in my life.

Deciding on a winner for the Gratitude Giveaway was much harder than we expected. Much harder. All of the entries were beautiful stories and many brought tears. Thank you to all who entered. Your words were beautiful!

The winner of the giveaway is Jill Kincer. Her daughter, Elizabeth wrote in and here is her story...

I am writing to nominate an individual for the gratitude giveaway. I guess I will begin by giving a little background information on myself and my nomination. My name is Elizabeth Kincer, I am an 18 year old Senior attending Seymour High School, and I have 2 brothers (Kyle who is 16 and Cameron who is 9). I have been accepted to attend Indiana Business College and intend on pursuing a degree as a Veterinary Technician, a passion I have had since birth.

My brother Kyle is an excellent student, and he has had a passion for music his entire life. He can play any instrument that you put in front of him, and he will play it well! (Not that I am jealous or anything) He has been a drummer in a local teen band "7 Car Pile-Up" for about 5 years and hopes to "make it big" someday, and I have no doubt with his talent that he will.

My other brother, Cameron, is our "baby". He was diagnosed with Autism several years ago. He is the smartest little boy I have ever seen and I truly can not wait to see what amazing things he might accomplish in his life. I love to just hang out with him and watch cartoons, teach him new things (the kid is like a sponge for knowledge), or help him with "I Spy" books. He is just so much fun! Which brings me to my person for nomination...

My mother, my best friend and absolutely most amazing strong woman I have ever met. She is a single parent, and when she was really struggling with Cameron's issues I saw a change in her and it really scared me at first. He was in full medical meltdown several years age prior to his diagnosis. I didn't know it at the time, but later found out, that she was probably having a nervous breakdown herself. Her child was sick, very sick, and she didn't know why and she couldn't "fix" it. She couldn't "kiss" it away or hold him until he felt better, and this made her feel like a failure as a parent. This made me so sad because my mom has always been our rock. She kept this family as stable as possible, she made everything flow, and was and is our everything, and for her to feel like a failure was a life altering state of being for all of us. I saw, what could have easily been a family's demise and ultimate breakdown, this woman pick herself and her family up, stand up tall on two very strong feet and that was "it". She was determined not to let this get any of us down. She found out everything she could about Autism. She made changes and adjustments in our everyday lives that would better Cameron's life, but she did it in a way where there was very little disruption for the rest of us. She worked with Cameron constantly to better his health and living conditions, and she sacrificed so much to do so.

My mother is constantly giving to and for her children, family and friends. We are always in the forefront of her mind in everything that she does. I have seen her buying food for a family with four small children that had no food for them, even though we barely had enough for ourselves, and at first I was so angry and I asked her, "why are you doing that when we don't have that much for ourselves?" Her answer to me was, "Well, we are ok and if I have a little to help then thats one child that won't go to bed hungry." I felt so overwhelmed with emotions and at the same time inspired! She has given people rides to work when they couldn't get there when she had no idea how she herself would cover the next gas fill, but never asked for a dime from the people she was helping. She can not keep jobs for very long at a time due to Cameron's needs. It will often cause her to miss work because she is the only one that really can deal with his emotional and social issues. She has searched long countless hours for grants and assistance, but has had no luck. At this point both of our vehicles are broken down, and my brother doesn't have a car yet (it isn't looking good for him anyway) so I am not quite sure what we will do about the working situations and getting Cameron to his medical appointments, but I want her to know that we appreciate her. We realize how much she does, how much she has done, how much love she pours out to us. We don't have anything at all, no vehicles, house is old and falling apart and way to small for us, we never get to go "out" and do things other kids do, Cameron has never been on a vacation and he always asks mom to take us to Disney World (which I know rips her heart out to know she will never be able to take him), she struggles to put gas in the tank, keep the lights on, and put food on the table (I often worry how Kyle and I will make it to college) I know this causes countless sleepless nights for her, just knowing that she is doing the best she can but not being able to provide the basic needs. We all feel so lucky though. We are all together, we are in good health, and we have a roof over our heads, and that is 100% due to this amazing woman! I love you mommy!

There is really so much more I could go on about this woman, but I think you probably get the idea. Her name is Jill Kincer, she is (as I mentioned) a 35 year old single parent of 3 awesome and amazing children (we get that from her!). She currently attends Hair Force Beauty Academy to get her license for Cosmetology. She is currently unemployed, but hopefully if we can get transportation and gas that will be a temporary situation.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this e-mail. I think this would be the most amazing way to show her how much she is appreciated. She would never think we would do anything like this.

Was at a Halloween party last night when the photo above appeared on my blackberry. I was beyond excited to get it. Her name is Atia and she is a 3 year old little girl who has stolen our heart. She has stolen a lot of peoples hearts! She's wearing the smallest necklace that we've ever made for anyone and what an honor it was to do so!

Atia has been battling leukemia and is receiving chemotherapy. She is so brave and such a natural born fighter! Last year she was too sick to go trick or treating so she was SO excited to dress up in her Foofa from Yo Gabba Gabba costume to participate in all the fun this weekend. Her amazing mama, Laura Lutarewych posted this photo for all of Atia's fans to see on Twitter. Does she melt your heart or what?!

What says cool? Peggy Lipton, that's what! She is one of our all time fashion inspirations. We love her and the way she has always seemed to make style look effortless. We mean that in a good way, of course.

You know how you can look back at some old photos of your self and say did I really think I was Alexis Carrington? Or, my makeup could have won first prize at a Halloween party! Or, MC Hammer pants...REALLY???!!! Well, we know the feeling and we're guessing that Miss Peggy Lipton doesn't share the same problem. The girl is timeless.

The moral of the story here is when deciding what you want to adorn your body with, follow this simple rule: Am I going to be happy ten years from now when I pull out an old photo and see myself wearing it? If that doesn't work for you, just do what we do. Would Peggy wear this?

The UPS driver delivered this today from one of our awesome customers. Kathe C. told us that she was so inspired by the necklace that she bought from us that it made her want to break out a canvas and begin painting again.

Trend is not one of our favorite words because who has ever wanted to be thought of as trendy? Jumping on a major trend wagon is also not one of our favorite things. There is nothing wrong with adding a fresh accessory to your look, but "trending" head to toe is never a good idea.

We are all individuals and we believe that it's important to express yourself with style. It shares a little insight on who you are as an individual. Our best style advice to you is to not become trendy. Find ways of setting yourself apart from the rest. We know that this takes courage for some people because sometimes you don't always have faith in your style choices. But have faith! Go with your instincts and what makes you feel good. Don't make rules up for yourself. A lot of people do this. "I'm too short for that," or "My neck isn't long enough." It is really amazing actually, how many rules people make for themselves. Trust us, we've heard them all. It's time to free yourself of rules.

The way we design is by making things that are not trendy but instead, timeless. That way you can wear a piece for a while, put it away for a little bit and then rediscover that same piece by falling in love with it all over again. The Fun Is Over

I guess that all fun things must come to an end. Vacation and family time ended today. They are all on a plane heading home. All that remains are smooshed Goldfish crackers, sand and half empty water bottles on the floor of my car. Gifts from my nieces and nephews:)

We went everywhere and did everything. Catalina Island, Moonlight Beach in Encinitas, Universal Studios, Hollywood tourist ssshtuff, the Farmers Market, Laguna, the ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier, made s'mores, resort day of swimming and lots more sssshtuff.

All in all it was very successful family time. We only had one boogie board injury that required first aid, no major fights, one cell phone lost to the sea, one wallet lost but quickly recovered by the nice people at Universal, one case of sea sickness, one cousin accidently kicking the other in the neck while swimming and I think that just about covers it. A group full of kids? I think we came out pretty good!!!

And Last but not least, my niece wanted me to make her a dayglow peace necklace. How gorgeous of a young lady is she???!!!

August Four

Our vacation started today and I spent the day at the beach with four of my beautiful and lovely nieces. It was a perfect day. As I write this I am getting to fulfill one of the things on our Still Have Time To Do This Summer List. It's time for bed and I'm still in my swimming suit!!! True bliss!!!

Went for a long, long walk with my sister while the girls boogie boarded. They weren't interested in a walk. On our way back, we spied 4 girls running as fast as they could (and doing cartwheels) to find us. Just like true girls, they had changed their minds...

They decided to leave their own works of art on the beach. So happy that I brought my phone with me to capture it before the tide carried all of their hard work out to sea.

Our bestie, Matt Schulze just sent us these from location in Puerto Rico. He's there filming The Fast & The Furious 5. Bringing his old character Vince back to life. A few of his old castmates like Jordana Brewster, Paul Walker and of course, Vin Diesel have returned too. They are all having a great time catching up. The film will be released in May. Can't wait to see it!!!

It's Matt opening up about real life. He truly is being himself in this interview. Just like a regular conversation with him. The only thing missing is how funny he really is. Sunflower Fields Forever

Not having the best day today but decided to stop and maybe even trespass a little, to smell the flowers. You can't go wrong in a field of Sunflowers. They seemed to go on for ever and ever. So beautiful and just what we needed! Thanks Mother Nature, you did good!

P.S. No flowers were harmed during the making of this photo shoot. We didn't take any home with us, only stopped to admire:)

Kelly Cutrone Needs Another Hug From Amma ASAP!

We love Ms. Kelly Cutrone of Peoples Revolution and Kell On Earth! Even when she's mad. Nobody does mad better. This girl never minces her word. She's awesome! We had to share this video with you of Kelly on a rant after NOT receiving her wake up call at the Sheraton in Canada this morning.

We thought it was funny and ironic. Not funny ha ha because she wasn't woken as promised, because that can be a big bummer and very stressful. But because a few hours before this she had been meditating with Amma. If you don't know who Amma is, she is the most famous hugger in the world. She is a spiritual guru who travels the world giving out free hugs. People stand in very, very long lines for hours to receive a special hug from Amma.

So, here's the video and Ms. lovely Kelly, even you have to find the irony a little funny. After you make it to your destination on time, that is:)

Give A Little Bit

The best and easiest way to bring love into your life is to give your love to others. Not only to people that you already know and love but with people you don't know too. You get who we're talking about, right? STRANGERS. Even the word "stranger" doesn't sound very appealing but in general, we usually come across a lot more strangers in a day than people we know. You see them at the gas station, the market, walking down the street, think about how many strangers we come across in the course of one day. They're everywhere! So here's the deal. Let's start a love movement. Love for others equals love for ourselves so it's a win win situation.

Tis the season to start showing all of those strangers some love. You can even begin with baby steps if you must. Maybe just start with smiling at people, not in a creepy sort of way but a nice friendly smile. Next maybe you can let someone go ahead of you at the market if they have less than you. This will involve actually talking to a stranger but still, you don't have to say that much and you will probably shock them with your kindness. We're moving in baby steps here because we know that some of you are shy and that may hamper your willingness to share the love. So, if you need to stick with the smiles for a while, that's OK. At least you are giving it your best effort. But what we are looking towards is the next step and this isn't always easy for some people to do. We would LOVE for you to start giving strangers compliments. Compliments are usually totally unexpected from a stranger and it makes people feel so totally unexpected good! It always makes you feel good to get a compliment, right? Making others feel good makes us feel good too. Good energy all around. You never know how much you may change someones day with just giving a little bit... of love.

If you want an instant pick me up to your mood, wear something colorful. Even if you're wearing all black, add some bold colors. Not only does it make a statement but it will make you feel good! Right now we are so motivated by color that we can't seem to create new designs fast enough! Summer always does this to us though. The beach, the sun, the water... We love summer!!!!

Parallel Universe

Was a gorgeous and HOT HOT day today in Southern California. 101 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Then WHAM out of nowhere came a major storm. Was driving when it happened and at one point I actually thought that my car had been struck by lightening!!! I had to pull off of the road. So scary and creepy! When I made it to the other side of the storm, I saw a couple of fires off in the distance...I think from lightening striking. Sure don't know what else would have caused it. My little niece called and said, "What happened to the heatwave, Sia????". Good question! Storms and Fires and Quakes! Oh my!!!
